OWERRI—GOVERNOR Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, has appealed to members of Joint National Association of Persons With Disability, JONAPD, to distance themselves from politicians that want to use them for selfish ends.
Okorocha, who spoke when he hosted the group in Government House, Owerri, noted that his “rescue mission’ administration came on board not for the cabals but for the masses, including the physically-challenged known as the special citizens.”
He pointed out that the Rochas Foundation was established to accommodate the group, stressing that he was in office to serve them without expecting rewards.
The governor regretted what he termed ‘the politicisation of the association by their previous executives’, also urged the group to be painstaking in choosing their leaders and to avoid people that will use them for their selfish ambitions.
