By Kingsley Omonobi

ABUJA— The promotion of Commissioner of Police in charge of INTERPOL, Nigeria Police Force, Mr. Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, from Acting Commissioner to substantive Commissioner has been approved by the Police Service Commission and backdated to August 25.

A statement from the commission by Ferdinand Ekpe, Assistant Director of Information, noted that erstwhile Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ogunjemilusi, joined the force on December 31, 1984 and had served meritoriously in various departments.

He had stints with the United Nations in Liberia, South Sudan and African-United Nations mission in Darfur.

He has attended various courses and programmes and is a recipient of Police awards for Most Outstanding Officer on Integrity and Transparency, 2012 and Most Innovative sectional Head in 2013.

Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Mike Okiro, while congratulating the new Commissioner, enjoined him to redouble his effort in the provision of security, particularly at a time the nation is buffeted by insurgents and criminals.

Okiro said the promotion is well deserved, noting that hard work would always be recognised and rewarded by the Commission under his watch.
