UGHELLI—A MEMBER of Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Kennedy Daubry, representing Burutu Constituency II, has empowered more than 100 women drawn from all the communities that make up the constituency with a cash of N50,000 each to assist them in setting up small scale businesses.
Presenting the cash to the beneficiaries at Tuomo, Daubry said the gesture was to uplift the living standards of his people, adding that he has the mandate of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and the leaders of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, at both state and the local levels to embark on the empowerment exercise.
“The gesture is to say thank you to the women, our mothers for your support to the PDP-led government at the national, state and local government levels. I want to particularly appreciate you for maintaining the peace as well as your effort at promoting the peace and security programme of Governor Uduaghan”
Assuring the women of better days ahead, he said; “I urge all of you to sustain your unflinching support to PDP and ensure the return of President Goodluck Jonathan and all PDP candidates to power in the 2015 general elections.”
