BENIN — A former member of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Fidelis Ogbejiele, has advanced reasons majority of the All Progressives Congress, APC, members in Igueben Local Government Area of the state defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying that Governor Adams Oshiomhole, had reneged on the promises he made to the people of the area during his campaigns.

Ogbejiele, who spoke at a rally in Igueben during the defection of a large number of APC members to PDP, accused the state government of neglecting the only institution of higher learning in the constituency, the College of Education, Igueben, through inadequate funding and non-provision of infrastructure in the college.

“As a legislator  representing the constituency, I fought very hard to have the college re-opened during the Prof. Oseriemhe Osunbor administration, after being closed down by the military.
“Today, the college is a glorified secondary school with no infrastructure or basic amenities.

“We can no longer follow a party that will bring in caterpillars to deceive us that they are going to provide one form of amenities or the other for us during campaigns, only to withdraw such caterpillars after elections,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for providing new infrastructure in the college and appealed to the governor to live up to his responsibilities by fulfilling his electioneering campaigns.

He also accused the state government of failing to construct the Ekpon / Igbodo Road, Ebelle, Amahor, Ugun and Ogwa  roads promised during the campaigns.
He said that the non-construction of the roads have  affected economic lives of the people in the  areas as they can no longer evacuate their farm produces.
