BENIN—SUCCOUR has come the way of Mrs. Juliet Imobhio in Benin, Edo State, a widow whose husband was allegedly killed by officials of the Edo State Traffic Management Agency, EDSTMA, as the state  chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has raised about N2 million for her.

It will  be recalled that the Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo, had in May, confirmed the arrest of two EDSTMA officials, including one Mr. Nosa Aideyan, for allegedly causing the death of Mrs. Imobhio’s husband, Godfrey, who at that time was a transport manager with a Benin-based distribution company.

Also,  the duo of the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, and the state chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, awarded scholarships to the three children left behind by the late Godfrey.

Orbih, while receiving defectors from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to PDP from Ikpoba/Okha Local Government Area of the state at the party’s secretariat on Sapele Road, Benin, lamented that EDSTMA officials have been unleashing terror on motorists in Benin, pointing out that the late Godfrey’s killing was worse than the attack on the “’Go and die’ woman because they have created a widow and have neglected her.”

He lamented that neither the state government nor officials of EDSTMA had neither commiserated nor paid compensation to the family of the deceased after the dastardly killing, saying: “Edo people do not need the services of EDSTMA as it has become a terror gang.”

He said that the PDP will engage the services of a legal team to handle a case it hopes to file against the agency for the murder of Imobhio.
“They (EDSTMA) have been unleashing terror on the people. As a party, we have the responsibility to return sanity to the state. We commiserate with the family and we promise never to leave them. We will also open an account in the name of the family so that the children can have a future,” he said.

Orbih, who personally donated N200, 000 at the event, also welcomed hundreds of APC members from Ikpoba Okha council.
