The special assistant to the governor of Lagos state on football matters, Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye expects the Super Eagles to qualify from the group phase of the World Cup despite the African champions lacklustre performance in their opening match.

Adeboye, who is currently in Brazil, stated that the Super Eagles would go ahead and qualify for the knock–out stages of the World Cup despite Monday’s scoreless draw with Iran in Curitiba.

“Nigerians should continue to support the boys in their bid to correct their mistakes and qualify for the next stage”

The former Obanta Warriors and Kwara United team manager expressed satisfaction with the performance of the team while admitting that the African champions were nervous and should not be written off yet.

“A majority of the boys are playing in their first World Cup but I believe they would get over the draw against Iran and improve against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday.

The optimism is high in Brazil because the boys have realised their shortcomings. Now they know what they must do to qualify for the next stage”

The Super Eagles will file out against Bosnia in their second match of the group phase on Saturday night while they face group leader, Argentina on June 25.
