PORT HARCOURT—The Federal Government has again been urged to implement the recommendations of the United Nations Environment Programme, UNEP, on Ogoni.

UNEP, among other things, had recommended three years ago, a clean up  of oil pollution in the area.
Speaking under the aegis of Ogoni Youth Rescue  Foundation, president of the group, Mr. Goodnews Ndonake, said it was sad that several years after UNEP released its report on Ogoni environment, nothing had been done by the Federal Government to resolve the challenges of pollution facing the people.

Describing the delay in the implementation of the report as an embarrassment, the group accused some frontline political leaders from the area of poor representation of the interests of Ogoni people.
