ABEOKUTA—The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State deepened weekend, following the rejection of harmonisation plan by the national leadership of the party.

The party has been polarised into two factions, with one being led by former governor Segun Osoba and the other by incumbent Governor Ibikunle Amosun, over the control of its structure in the state.
The crisis had led to the emergence of parallel executive councils produced from ward to local governments and state levels at the congresses held in the state recently.

Vanguard however, gathered that members of the faction loyal to Osoba held a closed-door meeting with their leaders in Lagos where they strategised on the way forward in the party as the national leadership began deliberation on the solution to the crisis.

It was gathered that the   national leadership of the party which waded into the crisis is rooting for the option of harmonisation of the executive in the state.
But, when Chief Osoba reportedly tabled the option of harmonisation of the state executive before his loyalists, they vehemently objected to it.

According to the source, “Chief Osoba asked us whether we would accept harmonisation of the state executive if the national leadership calls for it, but, all of us rejected it. We told our leader that, going by our wide consultation across the 236 wards,  Amosun has lost the confidence of the party members. Apart from that, we cannot work with Amosun again. In fact, it is dangerous for us to be on the same platform with him, because he is not trustworthy.”
