Yenagoa — A 28-year-old staff of Bayelsa State Ministry of Education has been reportedly stabbed to death by a commercial tricycle driver.

The victim, simply identified as Weke, it was learnt, met his untimely end, following a clash over fare at the Gbarantoru area of Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.

It was learnt that the deceased was stabbed three times close to the neck and head.

The deceased, according to a security source, was stabbed while returning from a late night party in the outskirts of the town.

However, there are two versions of what might have led to the scuffle between the tricycle operator popularly known as Keke and the deceased.

While one account claimed that the deceased had, after the party, boarded the Keke with two girls and gave the driver N1,000 as fare and demanded for change. The latter was said to have insisted that the sum paid covered the three persons including the deceased.

Another version claimed that the deceased was in company of two other boys who tried to beat up the driver and snatch his keke.
