MEMBERS of the Warri North Eligible Voters Assembly, WNEVA, have denied defection of its members from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Comrade Frank Ekpen Olu, who spoke on behalf of the group yesterday said   members of WNEVA are still loyal to the PDP till date, adding that none of its members defected to the APC as being rumoured in some quarters.

Olu stated further that the reason why members of WNEVA pledged their support to the PDP was to ensure that the 2015 senatorial ambition of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and Hon. Irene Imilar’s Delta State House of Assembly re-election bids were achievable.

Olu said “the political tradition of Warri North from 1999 to date is committed to the PDP. And the PDP has not failed in its bid to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the council area. I want to re-emphasize that no rival party had ever won election in Warri North since the council was created in 1991”.

Secretary   of   the   group,   Benedict   Princewill and woman leader, Atsenuwa Juliet who also spoke noted that the APC had made several   attempts   to   woo   members   of   the   group   over   with   promises but failed because of the unlimited loyalty of members of WNEVA to the PDP.

Princewill stated further, “it is unfortunate, but I have to reveal it. APC has no structure in Warri North Local Government Area. Our  group   is   a   merger   group,   it   comprises   of   all   notable political pressure groups in the council area. So if our members of over 7,000 unanimously agreed to pitch tent with the PDP, how would an APC structure survive in Warri North”.
