The Kia optima is perhaps, one of the ‘craziest’ car designs from the Korean car maker. No wonder it was conferred with the most ‘Outstanding design’ award by the Nigeria Auto Journalists Awards (NAJA) in 2012 when it first arrived the Nigerian market.
One glance at the Optima convinces you that the car has all it takes to compete with its Japanese and European competitors.
The Optima and other Kia siblings have long changed this perception with their innovative and quality products. The beauty of its all however, is that the Optima offers you what competitors could offer and even more at less cost.
The Optima is powered by a class-leading Theta II 2.0 litre petrol engine with a six speed automatic transmission which delivers like a typical luxury sedan. High performance damper for ultimate driving performance over all road terrain adds to Optima’s excellent road-holding.
The Optima boasts of array of innovations. Starting from the long wheel base which gives one an impression of a limousine, the Optima has an amazing spacious interior. Through the innovative use of space and judicious layout of elements, headroom and legrooms for both front and rear passengers increased generously. The drivers seat incorporates an advanced memory system that remembers the setting for two different drivers. The front passengers also enjoys similar treatment.
The Interior of the Optima is not all about spaciousness, the use of luxury materials and emphasis on texture put the car ahead of its peers. The finishing of seats blending seamlessly with the trim detailing is another plus for the Kia sedan. Storage is generous too with door pockets, cup and bottles holders and seat back pockets. All of these are perfectly complemented by cool mood lamps and interior lighting.
The cockpit of the Optima is well laid and shaped around the driver. A high-tech visually striking supervision cluster emulates classic sports car instrumentation with its dual cylinder design. Featuring a 3.5” colour TFT LCD, it gives you essentially information such as average fuel economy, trip distance to empty, open door warning and outside temperature.
Technologically advanced features in the Optima are countless. From the paddle shifters to auto cruise control, and from a bright, easily readable supervision cluster to the wraparound, driver-orientted centre fascia, the Optima engages you all through the trip.
The Optima bristles with latest technology. The 530-watt premium Infinity sound system features eight speakers in addition to the standard Aux-USB and iPod connectivity, ensuring an unsurpassed listening experience on the move. All of these operated via intuitive, fingertip-sensitive controls.
The new Optima incorporates a whole range of state-of-the-art safety features to provide the occupants with safety of the highest order. These include electronic stability control for sudden braking, oversize disc brakes for smooth controlled and powerful braking and details such as rear view camera and active headrests in the front seats.
