Ezekiel seals win for Standard

Imoh Ezekiel scored Saturday night.

The newly-capped Nigeria international came off the bench on the hour-mark, in place of Yoni Buyens, with his team yet to find a way past the opposition’s resilient defence.

Micky Batshuayi however opened scoring for the hosts with a 72nd minute strike, courtesy of an assist from Moroccan midfielder Mehdi Carcela. Before Ezekiel struck in the 84th minute to seal the win for Standard.

The 20-year-old has now scored ten league goals in 29 appearances for Standard Liege who hold a six-point lead at the top of the Jupiler Pro League table with 66 points from 29 games.

In other games, Michael Uchebo saw full minutes of action for Cercle Brugge as they succumbed to a 4-1 home defeat at the hands of KAA Gent. Gabriel Reuben was not listed for Waasland-Beveren as they held Lokeren to a goalles draw.
