President, Goodluck Jonathan, will tomorrow host the Super Eagles squad that participated in the African Nations Championship, CHAN, 2014 in South Africa .
Presidential spokesman spokesperson, Reuben Abati, confirmed this on Monday.
“Yes, there is an event scheduled for Thursday evening,” he said early in the week, adding that the event was mainly to give the team a presidential recognition.
“The emphasis here is not on monetary reward, but the presidential recognition of their efforts,” he said. The event will take place at the state banquet hall, Aso Villa, Abuja.
The Super Eagles won the bronze medal at CHAN after defeating Zimbabwe 1-0 in the third place match.
This visit which has received knocks from some quarters is in line with the President’s love for football. He accorded the same gesture to the Super Eagles after winning the 2013 Afcon and the Golden Eaglets after the winning the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Dubai.
