A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stalwart in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Robert Umoette, has said that the emergence of Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu as the new National Chairman of the party was a driving force to unite and build the political framework for the party to remain stronger in 2015.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos, Umoette, who is one of the top contenders for the governorship position in Akwa Ibom State, charged Mu’azu to be focused in mapping out new strategies to reposition the party for the task ahead, adding that the erstwhile Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, tried to instill discipline and entrench party supremacy, but his reign regrettably was marred by rejection, especially from his North East region.

He called on Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State to tow the path of peace by being law abiding rather than heating up the polity.  He urged all parties in the Rivers State crisis to dialogue and desist from any act capable of derailing the country’s fledgling democracy.
