non-governmental organisation, under the aegis of Christiana Olalonpe Foundation has set up a campaign for the need to encourage and equip those who look after physically challenged people with the necessary facilities.

Speaking at the unveiling event recently in lagos state, the founder of the NGO, Mrs. Dilly Seun Dokubo, said that her experience of looking after her husband who has been confined in the wheelchair for some time now, prompted her to set up such a foundation after seeing the stress and negligence carers are subjected to.

“Carers go through a lot in looking after their physically challenged loved ones. It’s a life sentence that you cannot escape from. They are greatly unappreciated and abused mentally and emotionally. Having spent 30 years in the UK and seen how carers are being equipped with everything to help them live a healthy life, I decided to open a resource center for carers in Nigeria.

We intend to empower carers with tools to enable them take care of their loved ones. I know that, it will go a long ways if these people are empowered and cared for”, she said. According to her, the foundation hopes to provide an avenue for carers to relax and get a life outside the people they look after. “

The vision came partly to immortalise the name of our mother who herself is a carer, and has spent all her life caring for people, some she knew some she does knows nothing about them”, she added.
