THE Federal Character Commission, FCC, has assured Nigerians not to entertain any fear of marginalization from government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs while looking for employment.

The Acting Executive Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Lawal Funtua who disclosed this at a one-day sensitization workshop for Chief Executive Officers and Human Resources Managers stressed the need for the redressing of the problem of imbalance in public services throughout the federation.

Funtua said: “Most multi-cultural, multi-religious and sometimes, multi-racial nations in the world have always been confronted with challenges of balance and even socio-economic development.

“Naturally, inequality breeds suspicion, resentment and often leads to social strife and violence which in turn hinder development.

“It is our hope that the outcome of today’s interactions will provide the participants appropriate understanding and promotion of the Federal Character Principle.

“We also hope that operators of media and information outfits will be persuaded to see the need to publicise the activities of the Commission’s mandate,” he added.

According to the FCC boss, the commission would do everything possible to ensure that they dispel any sense of marginalization in order to strengthen national unity.

The FCC Committee Chairman, Amb. Abdullahi Shinkafi, who spoke earlier on the theme: ‘The Role of the Communication and Broadcasting Agencies in the implementation of the Federal Character Mandate: A Panacea for National Stability’ said the Commission’s mandate is to ensure equity, justice and fairness in the distribution of personnel positions in the public service.
