MAKURDI— The crisis rocking Benue State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has deepened as the executive members of the party have petitioned the party’s national leadership, alleging financial misappropriation against a major financier of the party and former deputy governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Alhaji Usman Abubakar.

In the petition is entitled The Destructive Agenda of Usman Abubakar, sent to the North Central Zonal Vice Chairman of the party, signed by all the nine local government chairmen of the party in the Benue South Senatorial zone, including the zonal Chairman, Mohamed Hassan and Secretary, Bartholomew Alice.

The aggrieved leaders also accused Abubakar of disrespecting the party’s leadership in the state.

Part of the petition also read: “We like to bring to your notice that Alhaji Usman Abubakar has been an electoral liability to the defunct can, having lost in the 2011 general elections in his home local government of Ogbadibo.

“His serial lost of elections has been attributed to leadership insensitivity and inherent rebellious tendencies.”

When contacted, Usman Abubakar denied knowledge of the petition, stressing also that he had not been served the petition.

“I only heard rumours of it,” he said.

In his reaction, former federal lawmaker and leader of the party in the state, Mr. Nelson Alakpa, confirmed that he was aware of the development.

He pointed out that the petition was to ensure that Usman Abubakar was disciplined accordingly, adding that already, the Zonal Vice Chairman of the party had forwarded the petition to the disciplinary committee for necessary action.
