BENIN—A Chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, Mr. Godwin Erhahon, Tuesday, alleged plots by people he described as “desperate” governorship aspirants in the state to cause division in the new party.
He warned that if such persons do not refrain from such destructive activities, they would never get the support of the people.
Erhahon, who was reacting to the crisis rocking Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the national level, said: “It is the will of the Almighty God that those that gang up to exploit and mislead the people shall scatter.
“So nobody should expect PDP to come out from this crisis no matter how Mr. Fix it tries to fix the problem.”
Noting that APC was waxing stronger in the state, following its formation, Erhahon said that the leadership was doing all it could to ensure the parties that make up the new party get fair share of the offices.
He said: “We are doing our ground work and we appeal to APC supporters from the three legacy parties to remain united and not to allow desperate governorship aspirants to create rancour and bitterness among us.
“Whoever attempts to exclude any member of the legacy party shall be treated as one that does not believe in the merger and therefore, should expect not to lead the merger party he does not believe in.
“We are happy that Governor Adams Oshiomhole is carrying the legacy party along. Those who are trying to undercut the governor and the other members of the legacy party will end up cutting themselves out of relevance in APC.”
