274 Edo pilgrims depart for Hajj

BENIN CITY—TWO hundred and seventy four Muslim pilgrims from Edo State, will today, depart for the Holy lands of Mecca and Medina for the 2013 Islamic pilgrimage tin Saudi Arabia.

Chairman of the state Pilgrims Welfare Board and Eghiegbai of Ekperi, HRH Dekhe Kanoba made this disclosure, yesterday, during a send-forth organised for them by Governor Adams Oshiomhole at Government House, Benin City.

According to the royal father, who assured the governor that the state pilgrims will do the state proud in the Holy Land by shunning evil devices. He said the pilgrims are made up of 142 males and 132 females.

Governor Oshiomhole commended the Muslim community for their contributions to the peace, security and development of the state. He urged the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the state.
