PDP alleges plot by APC to disrupt Kwara LG election

ILORIN — Ahead of Saturday re-run poll in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has alleged plot by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to disrupt the election.

After a long drawn legal battle between the then Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and PDP over the victory of Prince Saheed Popoola of ACN, the tribunal ordered rerun while the state independent electoral commission has expressed its readiness to conduct the election this weekend in offa.

But the Publicity Secretary of PDP in the state, Alh Mas’ud Adebimpe, yesterday in a statement alleged plan to disrupt  the re-election, tressing that the plot was perfected during a meeting last weekend.

According to the statement, “the PDP gathered authoritatively that part of the plans was to import political thugs from neighbouring states of Osun, Oyo and Ekiti, who would invade the area few days to the election day. As a law abiding party, we wish to alert the general public and the good people of Offa to be wary of un-invited guests and visitors who might disguise as monitoring teams and observers before and during the election. In the same vein, we urge the security operatives in the state to a as matter of  urgency, commit  APC and  its leadership to an undertaken on the coming Offa rerun election that should there be any breakdown of law and order, they would be held responsible”.

We, therefore, appeal to our party men and women as well as our teeming supporters to come out enmass to vote and elect the leader of their choice without any fear of molestation or intimidation from any quarters as all security agencies have been adequately informed and we believe arrangement would be put in place for their safety. The PDP as a party and the ruling government would continue to deliver on her electioneering campaign promises to the good people of Kwara State.”

Meanwhile, the PDP Chairmanship Candidate in the forth coming October 26 elections in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state, Akintoba Fatigun, has assured the people of the area of his determination to bring economic prosperity to them if elected to office.

Akintoba, made the pledge at the party’s secretariat, Tuesday, while fielding questions from journalist shortly after his victory at the local government primaries election conducted by the party.

The former aide of Senator Bukola Saraki also noted that if voted into office, he will ensure that dividends of democracy gets to the nooks and cranny of the local government.
