Reverse process on amnesty for Boko Haram, cleric tells FG

BY TAYE OBATERU & HOPE OFOBIKE

Jos — The President of the Church of Christ In all Nations, COCIN, Rev. Soja Bewarang has called on the Federal Government to reverse the process initiated towards granting amnesty to the Boko Haram sect.

Bewarang made the call, yesterday, at the 82nd General Council meeting of the church at COCIN headquarters in Jos.

According to him, “many theories have been put in place on the issue of amnesty. As a church we can say with a strong voice that evil must not be glorified. Negative reward in most cases breeds delinquency and compensation must be given to families and churches that have suffered un-quantified human and material losses.

”The Federal Government has tolerated Boko Haram long enough and this has given the group the power to continue  their evil actions.

“Nobody knows what  the sect is up to; they strike at will catching the security unaware, and whenever they strike, they leave sorrow, tears and blood. When will these be over?”
Bewarang said the church has been affected negatively by the insurgence and called for better security measures to check the situation.
