ABEOKUTA—leadership of Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State, has pleaded with aggrieved members of the party not to dump the party for other political parties, boasting that PDP would defeat the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the state come 2015 general elections.
The party warned members not to fall for the baits of some party leaders, allegedly using PDP resources to fund and build another political party for their selfish interest.
Addressing leaders and members of the party at his Ijebu-Igbo residence, the party’s financier, Prince Buruji Kashamu, argued that the party could only reclaim the government of the state if members were re-united.
Present at the meeting were the acting Zonal Caretaker Chairman, South-West, Chief Ishola Filani; Zonal Secretary, Chief Pegba Otemolu; National Auditor of the party, Chief Wole Adeyanju and the state chairman of the party, Engineer Bayo Dayo, among others.
According to Kashamu, the collective will of all party members would determine the level of success it would record in the elections.
He said: “We have to put our house in order. There is no more crisis in the party.”
We are one big family in Ogun PDP. Don’t be deceived by their sweet words asking you to dump this big party for a lesser one.
“All these parties cannot match us in the election. We shall send ACN parking by 2015. We must not give other political parties any breathing space right from the ward to the state levels.”
Those who have dumped the party for another one will regret their actions. They will still return to this party.”
In his remarks, the zonal acting zonal Caretaker Chairman , South West, commended the party loyalists for standing by the party in its difficult times, urging them to ensure that the interest of the party remained paramount to them.
He added that those who defected from the party to Labour were people who wanted to be leaders at all cost, without leadership qualities.
