ABEOKUTA—Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, yesterday, locked out at least three of his commissioners and hundreds of civil servants in the employment of the state government for late arrival at work.
Vanguard gathered that Head of Service, Mrs Modu-pe Adekunle, and Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, were allegedly ordered by the governor to ‘arrest’ the late comers.
An eyewitness told Vanguard that the two top government functionaries commenced the operations precisely 8.00am, accompanied by armed policemen and locked the two gates leading to the secretariat at Oke-Mosan, where the governor’s office is also located.
State civil service rules and regulations stipulated that workers are expected to officially resume work at 7.30am, Monday to Friday.
As 10am, when our correspondent visited the scene, some of the late comers were seen loitering outside the gate, as they could not ascertain what might be the consequence for coming late to work.
