Insecurity,spate of kidnapping in S/E worry construction workers

WORKERS in the nation’s construction industry have expressed serious concern over the increasing cases of kidnapping in the South-East and general insecurity in the country.

Acting under the umbrella of the National Union of Civil Engineering, Construction, Furniture and Wood Workers, NUCECFWW, the workers decried the influx of illegal fire arms into the country, which effects had been the bombings, killings and community strifes, among others in the country.

In a communiqué issued by immediate past president-general and general secretary of the union, Samuel Adeoye and Babatunde Liadi, at the end of its 4th Quadrennial Delegates’ Conference, in Imo State, the workers  warned that Nigeria was gradually descending to a state of lawlessness.

The communiqué read:   “The conference in session calls on appropriate agencies charged with the orientation and enlightenment to re-double their efforts at steering our youths to channel their energies towards National Development by giving up crimes.”
