Lagos State Special Offences Court has sentenced Messrs Biodun Adegbola and Ahmed Toro to 730 days in prison with an option of N500,000 fine over illegal operation of lottery.
The convicted persons were arrested on February 20 and 21, 2013, at Isokoko, Agege for engaging in illegal lottery using coupons in LagosState.
The General Manager of the state Lotteries Board, Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila, in a statement, said the agency will not relent in its effort to rid the state of illegal lottery activities.
He therefore listed the approved public online lottery operators in LagosState, stressing that patronizing illegal operators was a punishable offence.
Gbajabiamila described lottery as a lucrative venture for potential investors and advised all illegal and unlicenced lottery operators in the state to regularize their operation with the Board on or before Friday, 29th March, 2013, or face severe sanction when caught in the illegal act.
