BENIN CITY — Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice, ANEEJ, has  said that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Mohammed Adoke, SAN, lied when he said, recently, that his ministry was not interfering in the murder case of Mr Olaitan Oyerinde, former Principal  Secretary to Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State.

Reacting, yesterday, to the redeployment of the Deputy Director, Public Prosecution, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mr. Thompson Olagbite, who said at the public hearing, conducted by the Committee of Public Petitions of the House of Representatives that the ministry was confused, the group called on Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC,  and Trade Union Congress, TUC, to resist the action.

ANEEJ in a statement by its Communication Officer, Mr. Kelly Umukoro,  said, “The Ministry of Justice has redeployed the Deputy Director, Public Prosecution of the Federation, Olatigbe, from his position.

“Adoke told Nigerians a day after the public hearing of February 27,  2013 that the ministry did not interfere with the case because it is a state offence that should be handled by the state (Edo State). This claim is not true.”
