ABUJA—FORMER governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu has challenged some faceless people involved in writing fictitious petitions against him to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to come out openly and face him, instead of hiding under fake organisations to blackmail him.
Muazu who spoke through his Personal Assistant, Alhaji Kabiru Ilelah, in Abuja, said that those he described as his detractors had been writing frivolous petitions to the EFCC to tarnish his reputation.
He, however, urged the EFCC to arrest and prosecute them against the backdrop that they were not only mischievous, habitual petition writers, but also blackmailers.
Muazu dismissed the organisation- National Congress of Democrats, NCD, which was the platform used by his enemies to attack him, pointing out that some of the signatories including one Abubakar Dogonyaro Bibi and one Yakubu Alhaji Jibrin were fake.
He said: ‘’The NCD is a non-existing organisation. It is not registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC as a Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO. Those behind these series of attacks in the media on my person are nonentities. The EFCC should investigate the serial attacks, to among other things identify the real sponsors of the attacks.’’
Ilelah further said that ‘’the petitioners were paid agents who were out to carry on with their campaign of calumny with the objective of tarnishing Mu’azu’s reputation in the eyes of the public.
‘’It is a mere tool being used to settle political scores, blackmail and intimidate innocent individuals. Their so called address in CRDP Keffi (opposite the late Wazirin Keffi’s house) is also not traceable,” he said.
“I wish to call on the EFCC and other security agencies to investigate the background and past activities of the so-called Abubakar Dogonyaro Bibi and Yakubu Alhaji Jibrin with the aim of bringing to an end their blackmailing activities in the name of anti-corruption crusade.’’
