Plateau: Politicians jostle for guber race

BY TAYE OBATERU

Jos—Politicians in Plateau State have started strategizing ahead of the 2015 elections with consultations on who succeeeds incumbent Governor Jonah Jang in top gear.

Vanguard investigations revealed that the Christmas break provided opportunity for politicians to meet at different levels to discuss the issue through informal meetings in different parts of the state.

It was learnt that with the next governor expected to come from the Southern Senatorial zone based on the unwritten rotational arrangement that has been in place, attention is focussing on the likely candidates to take over from Jang who is on his second term.

Former Governor Joshua Dariye spent two terms of eight years before Jang came in and many are of the view that the slot should return to the Southern zone which earlier produced Chief Solomon Lar who spent a little over four years and Fidelis Tapgun who spent less than two years in office before the military struck.
