The Vice-Chancellor, Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State, Professor Isaac Adeyemi has declared that the institution has never sold any degree, saying, the students work for their degree awards.
Addressing a press conference to herald the convocation, Prof. Adeyemi disclosed that the 17 students that will bag first class degrees deserved it.
He said the university will on Saturday, hold its fourth convocation ceremony, with a total of 217 students graduating across four colleges of the institution.
According to him the ceremony will witness the conferment of honorary degrees on the Chairman, MTN Communications Ltd, Mr. Pascal Gabriel Dozie, and first female Professor of History in Nigeria, Prof. (Mrs.) Bolanle Awe.
“Seventy-six students will be admitted to second class upper degrees while 80 others will get second class lower.
“Forty-two of the graduands will bag Third Class degrees, with two students graduating with Pass.
“This periodic graduation to higher levels of attainment by our students is in line with the vision and mission of the university, with our commitment to the development and transformation of society through environment-friendly technologies and other innovations.
“We have doggedly adhered to the dreams of our founding fathers and inculcated a high sense of responsibility and can-do attitude in our students. We are, therefore, confident that these graduates, like their predecessors, are trailblazers.
“Having been trained and made to discover, while they were students, they will disseminate and apply their individual unparalleled knowledge of science – scientific and social – for human wellbeing and the development of society.”
