THANK YOU to all the Vanguard readers who kindly sent commiserative emails and text messages when they discovered, via last week’s column, that I had been very ill. Many comments were made about the fact that I only started to recover from my ailment when I was flown out of Nigeria and handed over to British doctors.

Senator Olusola Saraki who died of complications due to cancer built a strong political machine that was arguably unmatched in dexterity and delivery. But as with all things human, that machine had begun to choke before the death of the political titan last Wednesday. Nevertheless, the implications of the exit of the titan could throw the house on fire.

THE celebration of multiple jubilee by the National President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, provided an opportunity by eminent Nigerians including President Goodluck Jonathan; ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo; Senate President David Mark; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim and several other political juggernauts within and outside the country to extol his virtues.

IT was an unforgettable day for the people of Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State, recently, as the member representing them in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon John Obukohwo Nani, distributed 250 bicycles, 5 motor cycles, 10 welding machines, 20 hair dryers, 10 sewing machines, amongst other things, to the people, as part of his constituency projects.

No fewer than 400 golfers are expected to compete in the 6th edition of the Central Bank ofNigeria Governors’ Golf Tournament, which kicks off at the IBB Golf and Country Club,Abuja, at the weekend.
