APGA crises: Umeh, Menakaya in war of words

ABUJA—Front line leaders of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh and a member of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Tim Menakaya yesterday exchanged fireworks over the true ownership of the party following ongoing crises rocking it with Umeh claiming he was never deposed as chairman by any court of law and Menakaya insisting that Umeh is a former National chairman.

Speaking separately in Abuja, Dr. Menakaya accused Chief Victor Umeh of running a one man show in APGA noting that he worked against the reconstitution of the Board of Trustees of the Party, the National Working Committee of the party while the National Executive Committee led by Umeh sat as a colossus over every other organ of the party.

On his part, Chief Victor Umeh expressed surprise at the allegations of Dr. Menakaya saying “It is unfortunate that he has brought so much hardship and destabilisation to the party which appointed him to its BOT in 2005.”

Accusing Menakaya of being sponsored by Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State to disorganize the party, Umeh said: “Until now, Menakaya has never criticized the leadership as he frequently meets them to collect money for his expenses.”
