The Chief Imam of Lekki Central Mosque, Barrister Raheem Ahmad Sayi has said the insurgency of the Boko Haram group in the North to lack of leadership foresight and ‘intellectual perversion’.

Imam Ahmad stated this at a public lecture organized by ‘The Companion’, held last Sunday at the Lagos State House of Assembly Mosque, Ikeja.

Speaking on the topic entitled: ‘The Prophet’s Hijrah: Lessons for Contemporary Muslims,’ Imam Ahmad said the insecurity in the North had brought acrimony to the country because leadership of the region had not been proactive enough but had only bred a generation that is so ignorant not only in the environment they live but also  on the Islamic faith they profess.  “It is ‘intellectual perversion’  because the Northern society has done nothing to orientate this generation posing problems to the society.”

He said Islam is not a religion of conceptualization rather a religion of precedent defined Hijrah as an ‘inherent mechanism’ designed by Allah which is obligatory on the muslims. ”You should stop interpreting the migration of the Prophet in the 610 AD as a historical affair meant only for commemoration. There  are still contemporary issues that can make a muslim do Hijrah for as long as conflict exist between truth and falsehood.”

“It can be necessitated by the need for self transformation from bad behaviours to good, it even becomes an obligation when a muslim finds himself in a condition that his life will be completely determined by another making him completely helpless; he migrates to where he can achieve an optimal accomplishment and freedom to practice the religion.”

Alhaji Thabit Shonaike, Amir of the group, urged Muslims to always attend  Usrah and programmes of the association.
