Edo: BNC endorses Oshiomhole

By SIMON EBEGBULEM
BENIN—AHEAD the July 14 governorship election in Edo State, the Benin National Congress, BNC,  has endorsed Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s second term ambition and warned politicians to desist from ethnic politics.

Members of the group, in their thousands, during a procession in Benin City, yesterday, said Oshiomhole’s achievements in the past three and a half years, had brought life back to the state. They said it would, therefore, be unjust and unfair to people of the state, if he was not voted back to office.

Elder Idurobo Aigbekaen and Mr. Scott Ogbemudia, who spoke for the group, said: “Politics aside, Edo people are satisfied with Oshiomhole’s pedigree and governance-programme as well as the towering image and name that his political platform, Action Congress of Nigeria had earned for itself, on account of the tenacious pursuit for the fruits of democracy for downtrodden Nigerians, since coming on board as a registered political party in Nigeria.

“Our resolve is predicated on the verifiable transformative projects scattered across the three senatorial districts within the short period of three years, despite the lean resources accruing to Edo State. We cannot recommend anything less for the present and future interests of Edo people.

We do unequivocally pronounce him as the beloved candidate of Edo people, and he should be overwhelmingly returned as governor in the July 14 election by the grace of God almighty and the ancestors of our land.”
