Bauchi—Tragedy struck, yesterday, when armed robbers stormed Gololo village in Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, killing one person and injuring two others.
Eye-witnesses said the robbers arrived the village about 10 p.m. in two motor cycles and began a house to house search, collecting valuables and money from their victims.
However, the vigilante groups on duty in the area, who got wind of the robbery, cut the tyres of their (robbers), motor cycles.
When some of their victims started shouting for help, the bandits started shooting sporadically, which eventually led to the killing of one person with two others sustaining injuries.
It was gathered that the bandits fled into the bush, abandoning their motor cycles. They later escaped through another gate-away car which had followed them to the town.
Vanguard gathered that the robbers collected over N1million from the person killed and N700,000 from another person they beat to a pulp.
Security operatives comprising soldiers and Mobile policemen combed the bush later, but none of the bandits was arrested.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Hassan Mohammed, confirmed the incident, saying, “investigation into the robbery incident is still on-going.”
