UGHELLI—NATIONAL President of Federation of Urban Poor, FEDUP, Mr. James Ugah, has said that the lack of access to necessary information and absence of knowledge were the causes of poverty in the world.
Ugah, at the inauguration of the state executive of the federation at Jesus Saves Church, yesterday, explained that the aim of the federation was to help people access relevant information that would enhance their well being.
He described poverty as lack of knowledge as against popular view of lack of food and necessary ingredients for sustainable living.
Ugah noted that the gap between the poor and the rich was getting wider on a daily basis, adding that FEDUP was in the vanguard to bridge the gap while acting as the voice of the voiceless.
He said that the federation operates through negotiation, dialogue and consultation to reach all strata of government.
