First Bank emerges ‘Best indigenous place to work’

First Bank of Nigeria Plc has emerged as the best indigenous organisation to work in Nigeria, as well as the best Bank to work for in Nigeria. The ranking was conferred on the bank at the maiden edition of “Great Place To Work Nigeria” (GPTWN) award, which saw the Bank surge ahead in the ranking of notable indigenous companies.

GPTWN, an affiliate of Great Place to Work, San Francisco, US, is a global research, consulting and training institute that specializes in analyzing, understanding, selecting and publishing best workplace lists in the country.

Meanwhile, Guinness Nigeria Plc received the overall ranking of the best place to work in Nigeria 2011/2012 assessment period, while Guaranty Trust Assurance Plc followed up with a third  place in the top 10 great place to work in Nigeria.

Other firms that made it to the list are Accenture, Fidelity Bank Plc,  Lagos Business School, Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC), Total Nigeria Plc, Access Bank Plc and Glaxo smithkline Consumer Plc.

Accion Microfinance Bank Limited, Adic Insurance, Red Star Express Oando Plc, Skye Bank Plc, Microsoft and Skye Bank Plc were voted best for creating conducive environments that stimulate workers’ efficiency.

The Managing Director of GPTWN, Kunle Malomo in his address during the award ceremony said over 225 companies were nominated for the awards, twenty companies emerged, explaining that Trust Index and Culture Audit were the two parameters used in selecting the best.
