Coach of Cerezo Queens, Charles Duku has voiced out his pain on the incessant poor officiating by referees in the Nigerian Women Football League.
Coach Duku told Saturday Vanguard Sports that the six weeks old women league will end with his team on top of the log.
“We started the season with just one thing on our mind, which is to win the title. To get this done, we must win away matches so teams will know that we are true champions. In line this, we are traveling to Akure to face Sunshine Angels with three points to pick and we will not fail to do so.
“All we are asking the NWFL board to do is to make sure the men in black are not tempered with, so they can give us the best of officiating. We don’t want to be rubbed as we were in Benin City when we lost to Ene Queens 3-1.
“What I saw in Benin, throughout my days as a player, I have never seen such. It is embarrassing for our football. Allowing two offsides and when my players were tackled, the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty.
“The season for me has been good despite the issue of officiating. Notwithstanding, I am very sure we will finish the season on a high note despite all this challenge of poor officiating,” Coach Duku said.
