25 yr-old-maid arraigned for assault

LAGOS — A 25-years-old house help, Patience Okpara, has been arraigned before an Oshodi Magistrate Court, Lagos, on a one-count charge of assault.

The accused was alleged to have poured hot water mixed with pepper on her colleague, Elizabeth Emmanuel, during a fight over their Indian boss, who was alleged to be sleeping  with the two maids.

Elizabeth and Patience were said to have fought openly at Sere Close, Ilupeju, Lagos, where both worked as maids to two Indians and were arrested by the police at Ilupeju.

It was gathered that Patience, who was irritated by her colleague (Elizabeth) having affairs with the Indian boss, who allegedly was her sex partner, poured the said hot water on Elizabeth after their fight was separated by a security guard in the compound.

Patience pleaded not guilty to the charge. Vanguard gathered that Patience confronted Elizabeth over the matter and she (Elizabeth) boasted about it, saying it was the Indian man that demanded her (Elizabeth) services the night in question.

Trial Magistrate, Mrs. Osho Adebiyi, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter till 23 March 2012.
