Vengeance opens LIFF filmfest

By BENJAMIN NJOKU

All is set for Leap International Film Festival (LIFF) which opens from Friday, February 3 through 5,  at Cinema Hall Binez Hotels, Aba, Abia State.

Crime thriller “Vengeance of the Bullet”, produced by the National Film Institute graduate Larry Zuokas  will open the festival. This follows the realization by the screening committee that Beauty Queen/Actress Ibinabo Fiberesima played a leading role in the film. Fiberesima is a member of the LIFF Jury.

According to LIFF CEO Madu C Chikwendu, “there is a potential conflict in having the actress adjudicate over a film in which she played a leading role. I have been a victim of this conflict myself as I recall serving on the Jury for THEMA which awarded a prize to a movie The Return in which Segun Arinze acted.

He was also on the jury though he did not adjudicate on that particular movie”.Dr Dul Johnsons Exciting documentary “There is Nothing Wrong With My Uncle”is also affected by the same situation since Dr Dul is also serving on the jury.

“Vengeance” however remains the opening film bowing with its world premiere at 12 noon on February 3rd.Other World Premieres in the line up include John Nwabueze and Jerry Nwachukwu’s “German Machine” and the rib cracking Comedy Calabar Girl starring John Okafor.
