Port Harcourt-Men of the Rivers State Police Command yesterday engaged some suspected armed robbers in a gun battle that left two of the suspects seriously wounded.

According to the police Spokesman in the state, Deputy Superintendent Ben Uguegbulam, the incident occurred at the Kpor area of the state.

Uguegbulam said the Police recovered one AK 47 riffle with number KO 357401, four live and five expended ammunition and one locally made revolver.

He said: ‘’About four armed robbers had attacked a filling station. The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, for the area and his   team raced to the scene where the culprits fired at the police team, which then fired back.

’’Two robbers were seriously injured and identified to be Bariyima and Alagba both of Momu. One AK 47 riffle number KO 357401 with four live and five expended ammunition and a locally made revolver were recovered from them. Alagba was fully dressed in military camouflage. Investigation is on to get the fleeing gang members. “
