Why I support Sylva- PDP chieftain

By Dapo Akinrefon

A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Bayelsa State, Mr. Gbalipre Tytus, has thrown his weight behind Governor Timipre Sylva’s second term bid in office.

Tytus, in a statement endorsing Sylva for a second term, said that the governor had deployed doggedness, intellectua-lism and experience in unlocking many issues to bring peace to the once restive state.

Tytus, Special Adviser to the Governor on Niger Delta Affairs, spoke at the second anniversary of the Amnesty Project. He commended Sylva for the initiative which, he said, had brought many dividends to the people of the state and the entire Niger Delta population.

While reeling out the governor’s achievements since assumption of office, he commended Sylva for “building a united and prosperous Bayelsa State for all its indigenes.”

He said: “He (Sylva) has attained a mileage that needs consolidation. Hence he should be given the chance and opportunity to do more.”

Tytus noted that the governor upgraded and expanded the education sector and also successfully constituted the State Universal Basic Education Board which was a precondition for the state to access the UBE funds.

He said: “Sylva’s dream for Bayelsa is to ensure that the state has women and men of timber and calibre who will take the proper place not only in Bayelsa but in Nigeria.

“This administration took a strategic push for building a diversified economy. This policy thrust was pursued on two fronts. First, government has taken practical steps to promote agriculture and is partnering with experts in reviving the Bayelsa Oil Palm Limited for commercial production.”
