Hon Ali Ajuh a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stalwart in Kogi State was the immediate past chairman of Omala Local Council and is presently, commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the state. In this interview, he speaks among others on why Kogi electorate should elect the Capt Idris Wada and Architect Yomi Awoniyi gubernatorial ticket of the PDP in the forthcoming election in the state.
Excepts:
As a stakeholder in Kogi State, how do you view the chances of Captain Idris /Yomi Awoniyi in the December 3 elections?
First of all, I will say they are men of destiny. If you observed their emergence in our political landscape, you will also see that God has a hand in their victory.
For instance, when Governor Ibrahim Idris contested election in 2003, nobody thought that he could spring surprise, but because God anointed him, he is the Governor of Kogi State today. In the same vein, when Abubaker Audu came as Governor of Kogi State, you could recall that emissaries were sent to him because of good performance.

Mr Ali Aju
He was actually dragged into the race and he gave so many conditions which were met by the party leaders before he was made the candidate of National Republican Convention (NRC) then. So, you can see that it is not people who are desperate for power but God-sent candidates that eventually get it. So I see the candidature of the duo as God’s hands at work.
Do you think they have the qualifications and what it takes to governor Kogi State?
Yes! For instance, if you look at Wada, he is a trained pilot. He virtually owns his airline. Piloting is a profession that is noble. It is not a profession for all comers. It is profession for people who are highly intelligent and very exposed. The training requires a lot of restrictions and discipline.
For somebody who got to the level of having his own airline, I think most sincerely that he is somebody we can trust. Talking about qualifications, going by his impressive track record, he his formidably equipped and sufficiently prepared to take on the gauntlet of the political leadership of the state.
What is your take on comment that Wada is not a politician…
When people say that he not a politician, I wonder what they really mean. Does it mean he has no interest in the development of the state? Look at his airline, many people who have worked there are from Kogi State, especially Igala people. You know how politicians talk. When it comes to political considerations, they could say all manner of things, ‘he not an Igalaman,’ ‘he is not an Ibo man or a Muslim or a Christian’ even when he is. People say many things in politics to knock out the person to pave way for their own political interests.
Is Captain Wada really equipped to defeat the opposition being mounted by the opposition Parties?
Let me say here in clear terms that the combination of Capt. Wada Idris and Arch. Yomi Awoniyi is an assemblage of technocrats that are capable of defeating the oppositions in the December, 3 polls.
