Ijaw Monitoring Group,IMG, has called on the Federal Government to immortalise the late business icon and publisher of The Guardian Newspapers, Dr. Alex Ibru, as a mark of honour for his contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria.
In a condolence message by Mr. Andrew Elijah, Chief of Staff to IMG Coordinator, the Ijaw group described the death of Ibru as a setback to Niger Delta in particular and Nigeria in general, adding that Africa has lost one of her finest business icons.
He said: “We express regret that one of Africa’s greatest business icon from the Niger Delta has departed. It is very clear that the country is in dire need of people like him.
“The bullets wounds he sustained during the military era is evidence of his love for the nation. So we ask the Federal Government to immortalise him for his contribution to making Nigeria great.”
