Former Bayelsa United Chairman, Felix Beke has hailed the decision of newly appointed Super Eagles manager, Stephen Keshi to include Premier League top scorer, Jude Aneke in the Eagles squad.
Aneke has shattered the all time highest goal scorer record held by Ishaya Jatau by scoring 20 goals this season. Ishaya’s record was 18 goals.
And Beke sees his inclusion as a good thing for the Nigerian League and the national team.
“For a long time we have been waiting for this, this means that our league now is getting better than what it used to be but not that it is okay yet. The quality of players we have been seeing shows that it is improving gradually.
Continuing he said, “ the inclusion of Aneke is an example of what our league has produced for our national team. That is what the whole idea of having a well structured league should be. If the people at the helm of affairs really understand the importance of having a good developmental football programme, we will go beyond this level in our football.
“Our league is supposed to be producing players for our national team just as it is done in other countries but the reverse is the case in Nigeria.
“Really, we are blessed with a rich pool of talented players in this country and I think we should be expecting more of this from the coach and other national team coaches,” Beke added.
