The future of Under23 head coach, Austin Eguavoen, will be determined by the 2012 Olympic qualification in Egypt, SuperSport.com has learned.
Eguavoen has been handed the hurdle of qualifying the Under23 Eagles for the Olympics in London next year.
It was gathered that failure to guide the Dream Team V to the Olympics will lead to Eguavoen standing down as head coach of the side.
“Austin Eguavoen knows that failure to qualify the Under23 national team for the Olympics will originally mean the end of his job with the NFF (Nigeria Football Federation). Remember he couldn’t qualify the team to the All Africa Games.
“If he fails this time, there will be no other job for him to take up because every position for the other men’s national teams are already filled,” a top official in the NFF disclosed.
The country’s football federation approved Eguavoen’s programme for the Olympic Games soccer qualification on Tuesday in Abuja after reviewing it.
