BENIN- WORRIED by the poor execution and abandonment of community projects under CDG-MDGs by contractors handling such projects in Edo Central Senatorial Zone, Executive Director of the state Millennium Development Goals, MDGs, Princess Theresa Erediauwa, has ordered defaulting contractors to return to site or face sanctions.
She warned that government would institute legal action against any contractor who failed to complete and deliver his/her projects as scheduled
Princess Erediauwa, who gave the directive, Monday, while inspecting CDG-MDGs projects in Edo Central Senatorial zone in continuation of her tour of the project sites, expressed worry over the poor work done by most of the contractors. She expressed concern over the abandonment of CGS/MDGs projects in the area.
She noted that the intervention projects were meant to improve the quality of lives of the benefiting communities, where the projects are sited, thus contributing to the overall achievement of the MDGs in the state.
The tour by Princess Erediauwa, took her to Ekpon, Ewohimi, Ewatto, Ohordua, Emu, Illushi, Oria, Ubiajia, Uromi, Ugboha, Ewu, Irrua, Opoji, Igueben, Ebelle, Ewossa, Ekpoma and Iruekpen.
Among the projects inspected in the Senatorial zone were the newly constructed ante-natal clinic and primary healthcare centres with staff quarters, renovated maternity and labour wards in Central and General Hospitals and primary healthcare centres.
