Siasia deserves some respect – Udoh

BY JACOB AJOM
Super Eagles chief coach, Samson Siasia has remained confident despite criticisms over the list of players he invited for the twin international assignments early next month.

Super Eagles media officer, Colin Udoh said that coach Siasia has remained unshaken in the belief that he invited “very capable hands who can carry out the assignments and that he should be held responsible for the outcome of the encounters against Madagascar and Argentina.

Udoh said there was no need for the present worry being expressed over the fitness level of some of the invited players as the onus of proof rested with the coach. “Every coach knows that his fate is defined by the results he gets so nobody wants to win more than Siasia. Let us give him a chance,” he said. Continuing, Udoh said he was not speaking in defence of the national team coach said, “in this country, we work so much on assumption. I do not know where we get our information from. The same week Siasia was heavily criticised for inviting Solomon Okoronkwo before the Ethiopia match, the young man scored for his Norwegian club. Nobody talked about it.

“When he first invited Nnamdi Oduamadi and Joel Obi, everybody was asking, who they were. But today we all know that the two lads have been wonderful for the U-23 team and the Super Eagles respectively.

In fact Joel has grown to become the stronghold of Eagles midfield along with Mikel. For Oduamadi, the question now is why is not playing for the Eagles?”

Udoh pleaded with critics to allow Siasia be. “They should allow him do his work and let him be held for what he gets. No coach wants to fail and I doubt if Siasia want to fail.”
