Cultists kill 3 in Yenagoa

By Samuel Oyadongha

Yenagoa – Three persons were, Sunday night, killed in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, in the wake of renewed rivalry between suspected rival cult groups. Fours others were seriously injured.

The injured persons are receiving treatment at  Yenagoa Federal Medical Centre. A security source told Vanguard that scores of suspects had been arrested in connection with the renewed violence which is gradually crippling night life in the state capital.

The tragic killings cast a gloomy shadow over yesterday’s annual Peace Day celebration in the state in commemoration of the amnesty programme when militant groups laid down their arms in deference to the Federal Government’s amnesty for Niger Delta militants.

Vanguard gathered that the killings occurred at the Akenfa, Ekeki and Ovom suburbs of Yenagoa.
