The national final for the 2011 Nestle Milo Secondary Schoool Basketball Championship is now scheduled to begin from September 13 and end on 17 at the National Stadium in Lagos. It was earlier billed to hold in August.
The final date was released during the week by the organisers of the foremost basketball competition for secondary schools in Nigeria.
The conference games were completed last week at the Osun State College of Education, Ilesa where the Western Conference playoffs were held. The conference play-offs actually started in the first week of June in Kano from where the train moved to Enugu and then Ilorin before the final stop in Ilesa.
Two schools emerged from each of the centres in the boys and girls categories and will be joined by the best losers in each category for the national final. The Brand Manager Milo, Orah Egwu has assured the students and schools of valuable time in the Lagos event.
“We have never gone below our set standard in every event. Instead we have always hit above target. All the students participating in this competiiton from the state levels through the conference and national finals are champions and we will, therefore, accord them the treatment meant for champions. They will enjoy valued time in Lagos and return home much happier,” she said.
The winners at each of the centre got cash quality products from the long line of Nestle items. The package for the final is special and the competition is expected to be one high standard from amongst the best schools in Nigeria.
