As part of its response to boost infant nutrition and health in the country, Pfizer Nutrition has opened its new Lagos office to provide wide range of choice of high quality complementary infant nutrition products.
In a chat with Good Health Weekly during the opening of the nutrition office in Lagos, Mr Tarek Youssef, the Regional President, Africa Middle East, Pfizer said Pfizer Nutrition had developed premium-quality nutrition products scientifically designed to meet the need of infants and lactating mothers.
“These innovative and high quality nutrition products are ideal for mothers who cannot breastfeed and also for those who like to give complementary feeding to their babies, in addition to breast feeding.
“We want to start a new office in Nigeria because it is the logical thing to do in view of the potential in the market place in exchange of the business model and partnership we have been handling,” he remarked.
Youseff also said: “The promise we are bringing to the table is the understanding of the needs of the public. Whenever they seek options for breastfeeding, they would find those options at their fingertips and at competitive prices and quality.”
The move, he noted, would advance public understanding of micronurtrient deficiency in the marketplace and what elements that are to be fortified and enriched to meet nutritional needs of the public.
“Our products are registered by NAFDAC and there is a complement of them from Stage I for 0-3 months, Stage II, 6-12 months and Stages 3-4 (above one year) would be available later, Youssef concluded.
“We are also promoting breastfeeding because it is the best for babies and also when people understand this, they would understand and appreciate the value of the options that Pfizer Nutrition is providing, in the event that they cannot breast feed.
Pfizer Nutrition, formerly Wyeth Nutrition is now part of Pfizer Incorporated, the arm that supports the company’s mission to improve health and well being at every stage of life, bringing breadth and depth of consumer and scientific insight to new population in new market around the world.
